The Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) is committed to ensuring the privacy of personal information. The following statement explains how during an employment recruitment process we manage your personal information in accordance with ACF’s Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Types of information we collect include:

  • The information included in your application or resume, for example, your name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, employment history and other information relating to your career.
  • A minimum of two reference checks from previous employers. Referees are nominated by the applicant.
  • Other miscellaneous information that is disclosed by the applicant and is included as part of the resume.
  • Information collected during the course of the interviewing process such as interview notes and assessment results.

How we collect your personal information

ACF may collect personal information about you when you deal with us by telephone, fax, e-mail, or visit our web site.
ACF may also obtain personal information about you from a third party; for example, from your nominated referee; when receiving the results of a competency test; or obtaining performance feedback about your work.

Use and disclosure of your personal information

Personal information provided to ACF by applicants will be used only for the recruitment and selection process. The information will only be distributed, in strict confidence, to the selection panel (which may include members who are not ACF staff).

All personal information will be held in a secure location by ACF’s Human Resources staff.

How long is the information kept?

Until the recruitment and selection process is complete and ACF has no further need for the information. At this time resumes and all other personal information of unsuccessful applicants will be securely destroyed. ACF will not return information supplied by candidates unless specific prior arrangements have been made and confirmed in writing by ACF’s Human Resources Manager.

Applications and resumes of successful applicants will be retained on file. Interview notes and all other personal information gathered during the recruitment process will be securely destroyed.

We will not sell or otherwise provide to any third party, except where required to by law, any personal information collected or held by ACF’s Human Resources Department.
Security of your personal information

Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy or electronically. ACF has security procedures in place to protect your personal information.

Gaining access to information we hold about you

Access to the personal information ACF holds about you will be provided unless granting access would infringe another person's privacy, would prejudice negotiations, or would reveal evaluative information generated within ACF in connection with a commercially sensitive decision-making process.

We will require you to verify your identity yourself. A fee may be charged for providing access. We will advise you of the likely cost in advance.

A written request for access to the personal information ACF holds about you or in relation to an inquiry about privacy should be sent to the contact below.
Correction to information held about you

If you believe that information we hold about you is incorrect, or if you have concerns about how we are handling your personal information, then we ask that you contact us and we will try to resolve those concerns
