2006 ELECTION OF COUNCIL
I hereby declare, by the power vested in me as the Returning Officer, that the following persons have been duly elected to serve as members of the ACF Council for the Electorates as shown below. The said Councillors will serve for the term commencing on 26 November 2006 until the day of the first Council meeting following the next Council election in 2009.
Election Process
It should be noted that there were contested elections in the NSW, Queensland and South Australia Electorates. The system for conducting the election was the quota-preferential method of proportional representation, and the details of the count accompany and form part of this communication.
In the other jurisdictions, the number of nominations was equal to or less than the number of positions and the nominees were elected unopposed.
NSW
Due to a production error during printing, there was an omission in the material on Candidates sent to voters in this electorate. The ACF Board has ruled that this disadvantaged one of the candidates and voting in this electorate will therefore be re-run as soon as logistically possible.
Vacancies
Under the Constitution, Council is empowered to appoint additional Councillors to fill the vacancies in Northern Territory, Tasmania and Victoria. The process to fill these vacancies will commence shortly.
