The Mary River Turtle is an endangered species which only lives in one river in the whole of Queensland. Unfortunately, the Queensland Government is planning to build the Traveston Crossing Dam on the Mary River that will destroy 36.5 km of the river, flooding the habitat of turtles and many other rare and endangered species. What about the Queensland Lungfish?

It's not only turtles that are special in the Mary River, the Queensland lungfish is a fossil link with the dinosaur past of 100 million years ago. As the name suggests, these fish have a lung and it was creatures like the lungfish that first emerged from the water to become the dinosaurs and other land animals. more »

What about water security for Brisbane?

We don’t need the Traveston Crossing Dam because there are cheaper and better ways to secure water supply for Brisbane. Both water savings from demand management and desalination are competitive alternatives to the Traveston Crossing Dam but these options have not been really considered by the Queensland Government.
