You can support ACF financially in two ways:

  1. By making a once-off donation
  2. By becoming part of our regular giving program, EarthVoice

    All donations to ACF over $2 are tax-deductible

    EarthVoice monthly giving is one of the best ways to help us achieve real success for the environment. Your regular support means we can plan ahead, making strategic decisions across our campaigns.

    By giving generously, you will make a real difference to our environment. Let's work together towards a healthier future for Australia's most threatened places. We can't be a voice for our environment without your support.

    ACF is fully committed to minimising our impact on the environment, including our use of paper. However, paper-based communications remain the most effective format to reach out to our supporters. To offset the impact of this, we ensure that wherever possible our paper-based communications are printed on 100% recycled materials, or on paper products sourced from responsibly managed forestry operations which are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. In addition to this, we are working hard to make sure that a smaller number of people receive our communications, but they are exactly the right audience for the message. This helps to minimise the number of letters being sent.

    We don’t use PayPal for online donations but instead provide a secure credit card donation facility. This minimises transaction and administration costs for any donations we receive through the web and means more of your donation goes to support the environment.

    You can also donate via a bank transfer by contacting Supporter Services on 1800 223 669 or using our contact form. Just ask for our bank account details and a reference number.

    The print version of habitat is an automatic benefit of ACF membership. Become an ACF member today by visiting our membership page.

    You can also download the habitat iPad magazine for free each issue. Visit the Apple App Store, search for habitat and download the magazine.

    habitat is Australia’s first fully-interactive environmental iPad magazine. The habitat app showcases longer versions of our fantastic print stories with additional multimedia content including video, photo galleries and animation. We also hope, over time, to transition our readership away from the habitat paper magazine. This will not only save paper, but will also save us money in print and postage costs!

    Not yet. The habitat app is currently only available to download on an iPad. You can still download the print version as a pdf – it just won't have the enhanced and interactive content.

    Visit the App Store's troubleshooting FAQ, which explains how to fix common issues and get additional assistance.

    habitat magazine is wrapped in a biodegradable oxy plastic. Plastic wrapping is a requirement of Australia Post.

    Sometimes apps don't install properly and need to be re-installed. Through iTunes, uninstall the application and re-install it again.

    You can also visit the App Store's troubleshooting FAQ, which explains how to fix common issues and get additional assistance.

    With any download over 20MB you should ensure that you are connected to the internet via WiFi, as cellular data (3G/4G) may take a long time and use a significant amount of the data from your data plan.

    You can also visit the App Store's troubleshooting FAQ, which explains how to fix common issues and get additional assistance.

    We need volunteers for variety of tasks at different times. These may include:

    Organising – helping to organise and engage communities in campaign action.

    Administration – mailouts, filing, word processing, spreadsheets. These are usually done at one of our offices.

    Research – helping our campaigners by producing background information. This can often be done at home on the internet.

    Events – helping staff at one of the many events ACF organises or is involved in.

    Communications – promotion; design; website; writing and editing; library and information; website; computing.

    ACF membership is not a requirement for volunteering. However, we hope that the more you learn about what we do, the more you will want to support us financially!

    Our Melbourne office, located at Level 1, 60 Leicester St, Carlton, is our head office in the sustainable 60L Building. There are some opportunities to volunteer in our offices in Sydney, Canberra, Cairns and Broome. ACF also engages with volunteers who work from home.

    We have some volunteers who come into the office every week but most get involved on a task-by-task basis. We regularly send out emails outlining tasks and volunteers reply as they are able.

    An email address is not strictly required but volunteers are normally contacted for tasks through email. Volunteers not on email usually have to make arrangements with individual staff members to be contacted when required.

    There is no set policy on this. ACF does not normally provide refunds for travel expenses to and from the office but expenses incurred in performing tasks can be considered for reimbursement.

    ACF is not generally involved in hands-on conservation projects. For this work you would need to contact Conservation Volunteers Australia, a Friends group or your local Council. There are lots of suggestions for hands on conservation work on our volunteering links page.

    ACF members are critical to the success of our organisation and our work.

    • Help shape ACF policy;
    • Elect ACF Board and Council members;
